Reunion Reception

A Huge Success!

As June wraps up, I wanted to share some updates on all that's been happening at Sigma Phi this past month.  Wishing everyone a safe and Happy 4th of July as we head into the holiday weekend! First, reunion was just held 5-8 June.  A Sigma Phi Reunion Reception was held at 4:00 on Saturday, June 7 and was quite well attended.  There were brothers from C ’67, C ’72, C’80, C’82, C’92, C’97, C’12, and C’17 (if I missed a class, my apologies!).  C’82 had a great showing with 6 out of 11 brothers returning, as did C’17 with about a dozen.  Pictures below show several generations of our Sigs enjoying themselves and reuniting.

NEWS JULY 2025

Big Changes at the House bringing $500K in renovations

A quick update on the state of the house.  An agreement has been set with Cornell to “reset” the house, as proposed in March of 2025.  As part of this agreement, the Directors have accepted the “sharing” of the house with Cornell to help them with a 300 bed shortfall.  In return for this, there will be approximately $500,000 worth of renovations to get the house up to snuff with regard to Cornell standard dormitory protocol.  The cost of these renovations will be split 50/50 between Cornell and the Epsilon.  Further, Cornell will be shouldering the annual operating cost of the house, which can run as high as $75-100K/annum.  The renovations commenced immediately upon the signing of the agreement and will proceed with a target completion date of August 14…move in date August 15.  As part of this agreement, the Cornell students will be allowed access to the dining room, pantry, main foyer, all bedrooms, sitting room and living room- there will be no access to the kitchen, basement, card room, Oliphant suite and library. The Oliphant suite may be used as an RA residence or possible staff residence if it is indeed utilized.

Alumni Giving Remains the Foundation of Our Brotherhood

SIGMA PHI:

What Do You Want To Do?

Who Do You Want To Be?

Sigma Phi Society (fraternity) is a special small residential community on Cornell University’s West Campus. Sigma Phi is not just about your four years on campus; it is about joining passionate and compassionate leaders who want to make an impact on their lives, careers, Cornell, and society.

Sigma Phi is a diverse, intimate community where students enhance and enrich their undergraduate experience and, upon graduation, launch uncommon lifelong journeys. Students from all backgrounds, abilities, experiences, and interests should consider the opportunities and advantages of Sigma Phi.

Our students boldly embark on their educational quest confident that they have a “home on the hill” and reassured of the depth of thoughtful and profound friendships.

Sigma Phi

@ Cornell

Cornell's Sigma Phi Fraternity is a life-time brotherhood of diverse men of character and accomplishment. Established in 1890, anchored in a beautifully preserved 1933 facility on West Campus, the house is known for its intimate size, campus engagement, dynamic programs, and supportive alumni.

THE HOUSE

One Forest Park Lane is maintained by donations from alumni, parents, and institutions and active involvement of alumni volunteers. The house is owned by Cornell University so our gift and philanthropy programs work through the Sigma Phi Gift Account at the University, with the Building Fund and Programmatic Funds, to provide tax deductibility and continuity.

THE BOARD

In parallel, the Board of the Cornell Sigma Phi Chapter has established programs of philanthropy and fundraising through this website, and new alumni engagement platform for its members. For non-members, register here for updates on our active Building Fund projects and special programs, such as the Tanenbaum Distinguished Speakers Fund, contributing to the quality of life for all.

SUPPORT

The donation opportunities below shall qualify for incentives from Cornell for rewards, in tandem with the Annual Cornell Giving Day. Each quarter, here we shall provide program fundraising information including budgets, construction and programs activities, and results.

Thank you for your consideration and support.
